BMW 1-series GT has come out in the open to give us another glimpse out its outer shell

Derived from the Concept Active Tourer, the 1-series GT adds a more spacious variant to the junior BMW range. It will arrive on the scene in five-seater form, but a larger seven seater model is also in the works.
After a fairly lengthy hiatus, a prototype for the upcoming BMW 1-series GT has come out in the open to give us another glimpse out its outer shell. On this occasion, it was caught pumping some iron on the Nurburgring.
The UKL platform is shared with new generation MINI Cooper that has celebrated its world debut this week and helps reveal some of the technical details of its BMW cousin. The 1-series GT will be blessed with an engine range consisting of a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter unit, a 1.5-liter diesel unit and a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit.
We expect to see the new BMW 1-series GT unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014.
Front-wheel-drive will come as standard, but we expect to see BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system available as an option.
